ROCKPORT-FULTON, TX - The Aransas County Independent School District (ACISD) Board of Trustees voted unanimously (7-0) to approve the 2021-2022 Compensation Handbook which includes salary raises for all ACISD employees during a special board meeting held on Tuesday, August 3, 2021.
With the approved $1.1 million in salary raises, ACISD has now positioned itself to be a top tiered paying district for teachers within Education Service Center, Region 2.
The salary raises come on the heels of the ESSER III retention stipend announcement last week. All returning ACISD full-time employees will receive a series of one-time retention stipends totaling $3,750, and all full-time employees, new to ACISD, will receive a series of one-time retention stipends totaling $3,000.
“Our ACISD family is made up of incredible people who are committed to the relentless pursuit of excellence for every student. This is a historic compensation package that places ACISD in the top tier of teaching salaries in our region. I am grateful to our board of trustees for their support of our ACISD family,” ACISD Superintendent Dr. Joshua Garcia said in a statement.
“It is our priority to remain competitive with other districts in the area. We cannot hope to serve the needs of our children by lacking the most important determinant of their success—high quality professional educators,” ACISD School Board President Kenny Cruzan said.
The raises will be part of the district’s 2021-22 budget, which the board is scheduled to adopt on August 26, 2021. Employees will see the salary change in September when they receive their first paychecks of the contract year. The first day of school is set for Wednesday, August 18.
